Question : I have swelling in my legs from the knees down to my feet...this has been going on since October. It used to go down during sleep at night but now it is not going down at all....I drink lots of water but when I wake up in the morning to use the bathroom there is significantly less urine than I used to produce and I only use the bathroom about 3-4 times a day....I am also getting nauseous as of yesterday. Can you tell me what I should do?
Brief Answer:
Needs immediate evaluation.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
It looks like you are losing a lot of proteins in your urine which is leading to edema ( swelling of the legs ). It is known as nephrotic syndrome. It requires urgent evaluation by a nephrologist
Here is how you should go about it
1. Get a urine routine test done along with renal function test
2. approach your general physician for these tests and make sure blood pressure, blood sugars are checked as well
3. drink less than 1 liter and salt less than 3G per day
4. avoid red meat
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
Regards
