Question : I have tachycardia. I take 50mg of atenolol once a day. I had an episode start at 5am this morning and it has not subsided. I am at 128 beats per min. I took another atenolol at 3 pm. Should I be concerned?

Following advice.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

In most of the cases tachycardia is a benign situation and you shouldn't worry about that. Please wait for the second dose of atenolol to take effect (it usually takes 2-3 hours to see any improvement).

If the symptoms persist after 4 hours or they seems to get worse you should go to ER.

Hope this was of help!
Wish you health!
