Question: My wife has emphazema and is on oxygen 24/7. She still smokes at least 1/2 pack a day and doesn't seem to understand the seriousness of her disease. How do i get through to her about her future if she continues to smoke, what will happen to her, etc? Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Start Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT ).

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.

If she continues to smoke then the end result is obviously death. She is already oxygen dependent and still smoking, this will lead to death early.
Better to consult psychiatrist and get done counselling sessions.
She needs NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapy) for quitting smoking. She needs encouragement and proper counselling from psychiatrist. NRT will reduce the craving for smoking.
So consult psychiatrist and discuss all these.

Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wishing good health to your wife.
Thanks.
