Question : Hello, I seem to have a sweet cigar smell around me but not actually there. I do have anxiety/panic attacks at times. What could be the cause for this?
Brief Answer:
it is olfactory hallucination
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thnaks for writing to us.
Perception without stimulation is called hallucination. Cigar smell without anything is around there is olfactory hallucination. It may be normal or part some neurological or psychological problem.
You can wait if samething does not occur again.
You should consult doctor for neurological examination and mental status examination when similar kind of symptom occurs again. If needed MRI brain scan be done.
If you have any physical illness or taking any medicine let me know.
Hope I have answered query , I will be happy to help further.
