Question : Hi. I had a chest x ray a couple of days ago and I have pneumonia. My dr. put me on 2 weeks of antibiotics. I got the result of some blood tests and my hemoglobin was 90 g/l. How worried should I be?

thanks for sending the question.

You do have moderate anemia. This does need to be evaluated by your doctor. First of all your doctor needs to rule out any gastrointestinal blood loss. Secondly your doctor can test for vitamin deficiency or are you deficiency which might contribute to this degree of anemia.

At this point the most important thing is to finish the antibiotics for your pneumonia.you should visit with your doctor in the next couple of weeks to continue to evaluate the anemia.
