Question : My mother's friend who is 84 went out to get the mail this morning and doesn't remember getting the mail or going back in the house but the mail was on the bed. She did say she noticed it was slippery when she went outside. She noticed she had a bump on her head. We think she may have fallen but she doesn't remember anything. She has felt nauseous off and on all day and hasn't got an appetite. She told us she slept for a couple of hours this morning after the incident . She is generally very healthy. She lives alone. She didn't tell us what happened until several hours later. We wanted to take her to the ER but she says she feels ok and won't go. She is tired and she can't seem to get warm. She was very quiet . We brought her to my moms house so she wouldn't be alone. I asked her if she had a headache and she told me she didn't. We put her to bed with plenty of blankets and turned the heat up in the room so she would be warm. I tried again to get her to go to the ER just to be checked out but she said no. I'm worried about her. She's a wonderful woman who took care of my mom last year when she came home after suffering a stroke and being in rehab for 3 months. It's very unusual to see her like this because she is healthy and active. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,

Brief Answer:
Wait and watch. Advisable not to keep her alone.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. I would insist you not to panic. As of now my suggestion would be to wait and watch. If things seem to be going normally, you need not worry. However, if there is a component of suspicion or if ominous signs of head injury viz. severe headache, vomiting, convulsions or loss of consciousness occur, do not hesitate to take her to the ER and to get a CT Scan of brain done.
