Question : Hi. For past couple months I have been feeling a lot of post nasal drip; constant clearing throat. I noticed this week there's a strange lump/elevation in back of throat running right down center. It doesn't hurt but I'm terrified it's cancer . Thoughts or advice? Thanks in advance.

Brief Answer:
Certainly not cancer!

Detailed Answer:
HI and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this postnasal drip and all the inconveniences this has caused you. Cancer takes several years to develop and months are largely insufficient for this. Postnasal drip are typical in persons with a possible sinus infection and requires treatment. Sinus infections could be provoked and aggravated by allergy. If you have any running/stuffy nostrils, then this is even more likely to be a sinus infection. This elevation most likely represents and inflammatory reaction to the irritation from this postnasal drop and NOT cancer.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Above all, thanks for using our services.
