Brief Answer:
Post nasal drip

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for putting up the query.
You are probably having a deviated nasal septum leading to a post nasal drip (the mucus that falls back into the throat from the nose while you are lying down) that is causing this symptoms. You should ask your ENT surgeon about this.
You should get a Xray paranasal sinuses done and send me the pictures of your throat so that I can suggest you better.
Also tell me do you have any burning sensation in the throat or any regurgitation?
Any history of smoking?
Till then nasal saline sprays help to thin the mucus. Also you can take Syrup or Tablet Mucinex (Guaifenesin) helps to thin it as well. This is available over the counter in pharmacy.

Follow up with the required information.
Take care
Thanks and regards
