Question: I've had postnasal drip, night sweats, which seem to be getting less severe and frequent, occasional chills, headache (esp. around the eyes & forehead) and tiredness off and on for 6 weeks. What do you think?

Brief Answer:
Sinusitis should be ruled out.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely due to sinusitis. When sinus drainage is blocked situation like yours can occur. Antibiotics might not be effective in such case. Nasal decongestants won't work much also.

A consultation with ENT specialist should be carried out. X ray of para nasal sinuses will help to rule out the condition. Puncture and drainage of sinus will be helpful in such case. This is carried out as an out patient procedure by ENT specialist.

Taking vitamin C regularly will be helpful if you are getting sinusitis so frequently.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.

Doctor,
Thanks you for the reply. I have not had green or yellow discharge, but sometimes have problems breathing through my nose. Also, when feeling better, and I physically exert myself, I start to feel ill again. What are your thoughts? XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

Allergic rhinitis or sinusitis can give such picture also. A consultation by ENT specialist will be helpful to rule out this. In such case taking combination of antihistamine like levocetirizine and mast cell stabilzers like monteleukast for long term will be helpful.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
