Question : I suffer severe back pain xrays are clear it strictly muscle. it's mostly my entire left side. my physical therapist said there is nothing loose about my muscles and that the muscle is lifting up my rib cage. I had a son 4 months ago and since then my back has gotten worse no relief no matter what I've done.I've had back pain for at least10 years but never constant. the pain is all day nothing helps. I'm going for trigger point injections but the severe spots are all over. I need help getting off the floor and out of the tub with my son. I can't stand or sit for more than 15 at a time

I have studied your case.
There can be aggravation of pain due to post partum physical stress.
As per your history there can be associated old degeneration.
Gyaenacological reasons may also lead to back pain.
When such patient comes to my hospital we usually take MRI spine to see for any nerve compression.
So I will advise you to consult orthopaedic doctor.
Medication like methylcobalamine and analgesic will reduce pain; you can take them consulting your treating doctor.
Continue your physical therapy through physiotherapist for further guidance. You may take TENS, or ultrasound which is helpful in your case.
Some life style modifications to prevent pain– Take break every 40 min from work and do some lumbar rotation, stretches, walk and get back to work. Sit with taking support to your back, and good posture in bed which may also aggravate pain.
Handle baby being aware of your back.Spine extension stretches may help you.
