Question : what would cause a rectal blow out ? some stool and blood.

I read your question and i understand your concern. Blood in stools need a little examination and work up to find out the cause as it could be local anal pathology like hemorrhoids, anal fissures or inside bowel causes like polyps, inflammations, diverticulosis etc. You need a digital rectal exam, if need be colonoscopy. Till then stick to soft diet mostly fluids and consult your doctor and let them decide what is best for you
