Suggest Treatment For Pressure In The Chest And Breathing Difficulty

Question: Hi again doc :)
Not sure if I got to do the review on you, but I think I did.
Anyway. As you know- I am too much focused on this heart-related stuff. I have been having this very Heavy feeling in the chest as I said. It gets worse when I am physical, also get winded and breathing is a bit heavier. So I went , yet again, to another cardiologist today. She did a very long check With ultrasound, checking heart and outside on my neck/throat, EKG and a stress ekg on Bicycle and checked pulse in my feet. I really need to put this to rest. So I ask you: I am getting more trouble With the chest by walking, sitting on couch at home, or walking up the stairs, than I got when i took the EKG on Bicycle today. I was really doing bycycle hard, I sweated and cycled until my legs gave up- but still no chestpain or pressure. When I get home, I og for a little easy walk With the dogs, and get pressure. 1: If it were clogged arteries, I would get pain or pressure on bike, right? 2: Might it be muscular problems, because I find it hard to believe that my arteries can be clogged just some of the time, and not on the cycle test. Maybe I use my arms more when walking than on the bike With EKG, so thats why no pressure on chest ?
Now it has been Three cardiologists that has done same tests. All say: I have not seen anything that says that there are any clogged arteries, but they wont say that I DONT have it. I dont want to do the contrast examination which I Guess is the NeXT step to be a 100 percent sure about the arteries.
In Your experience- would it show if they were clogged- even though i did not smoke before the cycling this time, and smoking a cigarette makes the chest feel tighter.
Worries me that I have heard of a woman in my neighbourhood that went to do check up and was told she was fine. Next week she was at hospital With angina.
Sorry for so many questions about this, but it is soo important to me.
Thank you

Brief Answer:
You do not suffer from coronary artery disease.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome back again on HCM!

I carefully passed through your question and would like to reassure you that your symptoms are not related to any clogged cardiac arteries (coronary artery disease).

The reason that they do not mention it, is that you do not suffer from this disorder.

So just relax and take a deep breath! You have nothing to worry about.

All your cardiac performed tests confirm that you do not suffer from any cardiac disorders (including clogged coronary arteries).

The fact that you didn't feel chest pain on the bike, in another argument in favor of this.

In my opinion, anxiety seems to play an important role in all your symptomatology.

A muscular disorder can not be excluded, but your symptoms are not typical of any muscular disorder. I would recommend performing a cervico-thoracic spine X ray study, in order to exclude possible backbone disorder, which can cause a similar symptomatology.

Nevertheless, nothing serious seems to be going on with you!

I would not recommend going further and performing coronary angiography, as it is going to be normal. I can assure you about that. Besides, this is a little more invasive test than the other cardiac tests that you have performed.

Anyway, if this makes you feel better, you are free to do it, just to calm your anxiety and worried mind.

I would recommend focus on your anxiety and consult with a specialist of this field, who can help you manage it.

A lot of physical exercise and Yoga will be helpful. You should feel free to perform a lot of physical exercise (you should not be afraid to do this, because nothing bad is going to happen).

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

I am always at your disposal if you have any other uncertainties!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri

I think my follow-up question disappeared!
But, yes I think you are right.
However. I wonder that the fact that I was a little confused during the tests, so when she asked if this pressure gets worse in stairs or uphill walking, I said I dont know- or just no not really. But it does feel worse when going uphill or stairs. Even if I said that- it doesnt matter? It would still be same results from the bike?
Its too bad that I always after seeing a cardiologist, after I am done, I think that I should say this or say that, and forgot to mention this and that...

Brief Answer:
My answer as follows:

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that these cardiac tests (including cardiac stress tests) are objective tests, which evaluate your cardiac function and structure independently by your thoughts or symptoms.

The doctor has asked you some questions, just to be more oriented, but it has no influence in the test procedure.

These tests are performed in standard procedures, and show with reality your cardiac function and structure.

It does not matter if you have not told entirely the truth. The test can not lie.

So just relax! You have nothing to worry about!

The only matter you should focus on is your anxiety.

Hope to have been helpful!

Wishing a nice weekend,

Dr. Iliri
