Question : Hi,

There is a storm coming in and my son has a headache, it's the pressure building up in his head due to the atmospheric change, what can I do to relieve the pain? He is 12 years old and very healthy

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Atmosphere pressure changes can cause headaches by creating a pressure difference between atmosphere and paranasal sinuses.

Air humidity also has its part in triggering headaches.

Home remedies to improve headaches are getting a air humidifier and going outside talking some fresh air,

Drugs to ease this type of headache are NSAID drugs.

I recommend you to give your son Ibuprofen eg. according to its body weight, or at that age 200 mg by mouth.

If this situation repeats often, a consultation with a Pediatrician needed.

Sinusitis related headaches and migraine headaches are also exacerbated by weather changes.
