Question: Good morning,
It just happened to me about couple weeks ago. I went to bed at 10PM and wake up around 12 -12:30AM and couldn't go back to sleep. I tried Melatonin 10mg bought the counter before going to bed, someday it helped me sleep for 4-5 hours at night but sometime I still couldn't back to sleep if I woke up in the middle of the night from the noise. I did exercise every day during lunch time. Would you please tell me what cause of this and what can I do to have a good night sleep so I can function at work. Thank you so much for your time

Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

This sounds like primary insomnia. Melatonin can be good, but unfortunately it seems this has not been effective for you. Another over the counter option you can try is diphenhydramine (Benadryl), 25-50mg at night 30mins before going to sleep. This is often effective and can help you sleep through the entire night.
