Question : I have had a sore throat for about a week now. At times I do cough hard. Just today I have noticed blood in my green mucous that I have spit up. No fever or congestion....my throat is very irritated though. I have been doing salt water rinses. Suggestions or idea of what I have? None else in my family is ill.

I had gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.
This could be respiratory infection. Looks like just symptomatic treatment not working for you.
You might need a course of antibiotics.
Continue other symptomatic treatment.
Nothing to worry about the blood you noticed. That is due to congestion associated with infection and trauma caused by cough.
Drink plenty of water to maintain hydration of respiratory mucosa.
Local anesthetic based gargle is better option than salt water gargling.
You will be fine.
