Question : Hi I am suffering from prolonged periods and heavy menstrual bleeding! I am 31 yrs and unmarried and I had only 1 day bleeding and spotting in last cycle. My thyroid and blood sugar levels are normal. Endometrium lining was 9 mm 4 days ago as per ultrasound. I am still having periods. I have had bad experience 2 yrs back with hormone medicines. I am currently taking Gynae cvp 2 capsules thrice a day. My prolactin is 45. Ultrasound is normal. Can you pls fsuggest sm medicine to manage it.

thanks for contacting healthcaremagic.

As presently you are uffering from prolonged periods, you may take...
TAB TRANEXAMIC ACID 500mg thrice a day for 3 days to reduce and stop your menses.

However your prolactin levels are high and they are the likely cause of of scanty bleed earlier for a day.
please maintain a menstrual calendar for next 3 months and the pattern of bleeding remains scanty , then you have to be investigated for hyperprolactinemia for a possible prolactinoma in brain with a ctscan. your levels are high. once prolactinoma is ruled out then you can be given cabergoline or bromocryptine to control your prolactin levels and reglarize your menses.
