Question : I am pretty sure I have psoriasis patches that have recently developed on my arm , leg, back. I just started taking Gabapentin a few weeks ago and am now taking 1200 mgs. I also take Abilify, citalopram, lamotrigene, clonazepam, temazepam, and recently benztropine. I stopped taking valproate suddenly last week. I am bipolar, 66 years old, female, Caucasian. I had knee surgery a month ago and have taken a lot of ibuprophen in the past few months. I took Percocet briefly after surgery and experienced delusions after I stopped it. I was diagnosed with major depression in 1985 and then bipolar disorder in the 90s. It is severe enough that I was on long term disability for 10 years before I retired. My question is what has caused these psoriatic patches? No family history
Brief Answer:
Kindly upload a few images
Detailed Answer:
Hello. thank you for writing to us
I have gone through your query and I have noted down your concern.
Psoriasis can arise even in absence of family history. Various drugs like NSAIDs/ painkillers, antidepressants like lithium and antihypertensives can also induce or exacerbate psoriasis.
I request you to upload a few representative images of the skin lesions so that i am able to confirm whether it is psoriasis or something else and hence guide you better.
You may upload an image either at "Reports Section" Or You may mail me images at the following email ID: YYYY@YYYY with the subject line as Attention:Dr.Kakkar.

I cannot email a photo as I do not know how, nor can I take a picture of my back, the back of my arm and leg. Be more specific.
Brief Answer:
None of these drugs cause or induce psoriasis
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
I am sorry if you did'nt like something about my answer but my intention was to help you with your problem therefore i asked for images. I wanted to distinguish whether it can possibly be a drug reaction or is it really psoriasis.
Anyways, i assure you that none of these drugs do not cause or induce psoriasis. Psoriasis vulgaris can arise de novo without any family history.
Regards
let me know if i can help you further
take care
