Suggest Treatment For Pull In The Paraspinous Muscle

default
Posted on Mon, 30 Jun 2014
Question: I play a lot of golf, I recently made a few swing changes but have done something in my mid back area. When I awake in the morning I can barely move without a pain so severe that I could yell out. When the pain hits, my other muscles tense up and it amplifies the pain. After a hot shower and walking around very slowly for awhile the pain subsides with the help of some motrine. Serious or just a pull in the Paraspinous muscle?

Brief Answer:
Paraspinous pull.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have read your query.

From your history it seems a pull in paraspinous muscle but you should be careful in future and do not play golf a lot or limit your time to one hour. If you over stress your body then your muscle will unable to cope up and stress will fall on your intervertebral disc and it will further press nerves and cause severe pain.

Take rest for about 3 days and then you can start back strengthening exercises as uploaded on you tube.

Do not push or pull heavy objects for about a week.

Take 1 tab. aceclofenac+thiocolchicoside three times a day.

You can start game after about 15-20 days.

I hope it helps.

What is a similar medicine that I can get in the US. Went to pharmacy and they said it was not available in states.

Brief Answer:
Take naproxen.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for the query again my friend. In USA if you don't get these medicines then you can have naproxen it is equally good.

Otherwise by prescription you can also have above mentioned medicine i.e aceclofenac its just a sister of declofenac but more potent than it.

Thiocolchicoside is muscle relaxant.

You can have prescription for these medication.

Regards.

Dr.Singh.
