Question : I have several dark purple scars on my legs from a varicose vein operation 10 months ago. When will they fade? Will they ever fade? Is there something I can do to remove the discoloration?
Brief Answer:
Pigmentation will persist

Dear Ms
The discolouration of skin at site of varicose veins is due to disintegration of red blood cells and deposition of hemosiderin pigment. This pigmentation is irreversible and likely to stay lifelong.
I personally recommend the individuals to leave them alone. If cosmetic appearance is of concern , then laser treatment can be tried.
