Suggest Treatment For Raised SGPT Level

Question: My fasting sugar is 131 mg/dl FASTING and HbiAC is 6.1 , SGOT value observed is 48.9 IU/L and SGPT is 97.1 IU/L . Which medicine should I take.
At present i taking Metformin 500 mg as suggetsed by Health Magic

Your findings suggests raised SGPT.
Increased SGPT indicates liver injury.Increase in SGPT may be due to many reasons like hepatitis,alcohol intake,altered lipid profile,medicines,auto immune causes etc.

Ultrasound of abdomen should be done to assess liver.Lipid profile should also be done.
I suggest my patients to take tablet ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg twice daily for three months.It will help in regeneration of liver cells.

You are rightly taking Metformin tablet.You need regular monitoring of blood sugar.

You should avoid red meat and high fat milk products.
It is good that you are physically active.

Lipid profile test details done on 24 Sept-14
Chelestrol 196 mg/dl
HDL Chelestrol 50 mg/dl
Triglucerides 180 mg/dl
LDL cHLESTROL 110
VLDL Chelestrol 36

Total Lipd 572 mg/dl
My question is that the above values are ok at present ? and is there any side
effects of Metformin specially on lever functions?

Cholesterol and LDL level are towards upper limit.It can be managed by diet and life style changes.
You should increase your physical activity and go for brisk walk and exercise.

Metformin rarely causes liver toxicity and it is safe drug to take.

Should i still use ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg BD or just brisk walking and excerice will do ?
