Question : Hi. ..hope this email finds you in good spirits. I recently asked a question about a square rash. I have seen my regular doctor last Thursday and she said it is slightly raised and looks like a possible fungal reaction. She told me to get some antifungal creme and it should clear up. I did what she said but it has not improved. The rash appears to be spreading no matter how clean I keep it, nor do I touch them...they don't itch, burn, or cause any discomfort. The new rash seems to be located in a horizontal fashion from arm to arm and in between on chest area and right beneath my underarm area right above ribs. I have an appointment with my dermatologist but I can't get in to see him until May 8th. Please help contain spreading or stop all together. It's very unattractive :(. Thank you

Brief Answer: Pityriasis rosea, no need of antifungal Detailed Answer: Hi I understand your concern regarding your skin problem and I hope I am able to help you in the same . I have seen the attached pictures . You seem to have developed pityriasis rosea. Antifungals might not help in your case. It is basically a self limiting skin condition in which scaly skin lesions tend to come up in crops for four to six weeks . In most cases, no treatment is required . However moisturizers and topical steroids can be of help in patients with itching or discomfort . You can use a mild topical steroid cream like cortisone over the affected areas twice a day . But you should remember that the lesions might take sometime to completely heal . It is essentially a harmless skin condition and takes its time to go. Hope it helps Please ask if you need any further clarifications Dr Geetika Paul

Hi Dr. XXXXXXX I wanted to thank you so much! You nailed it. I just recently battled pluritus for several months. It unfortunately has turned to Costachondritis. My rash mirrors the symptoms exactly. Thanks again! Have a wonderful weekend :) XXXXX
