Question: Hi, I have a bit of a petechial/purpuric rash on the back of my knees and a spot on my thigh. My last dose of TAC chemo for breast ca was July 30th. Should I be concerned? This is a first. No rashes before now. I've beem having some nasty joint/bone pain also, but my last MRI came back NED shortly after chemo.

Brief Answer:
Hyperpigmentation of skin

Detailed Answer:
Hi

The purpuric rash on the back of your kness and spot on your thigh is a side effect of TAC chemotherapy.

These types of rashes are very common after chemotherapy and you should not be concerned.

Most of these skin reactions will resolve automatically 10 to 12 weeks after stopping chemotherapy.

Since your last MRI was normal you should not be concerned and you can take nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs twice daily after food for 5 days for your joint pain.

Since these drugs sometimes cause peptic ulcer histamine H2 receptor antagonist group of drugs twice daily before food is recommended for 5 days.

Discuss with your doctor before taking these medicines.

Hope I have answered your query.

Okay, thank you. So it's common to turn up well after chemo is done? It only turned up yesterday. The chemo hasn't caused skin complaints until now.
