Thank you for your reply Dr. XXXXXXX Yes my trunk, upper thighs, and a little bit on the bicep area is affected. No lesions on face. It has been about two weeks since I developed the lesions. Right now I am not using anything to treat it. It is itchy but my skin itches a lot because of eczema,so itching is ok. My shoulder/neck area started developing pain, but I believe it is not related to lesions?

Harmless skin problem
Detailed Answer:
Hi again
Thanks for the details.
You seem to have developed pityriasis rosea.
It is basically a skin problem which can cause development of red itchy oval to circular skin lesions over trunk ,upper arms and thigh region. Lesions can continue to develop for six to eight weeks.
It is a self limiting skin condition and does not require any treatment.
For itching ,topical steroids can be applied and oral antihistamines like Benadryl can be taken .
So my advise would be that you should apply plenty of moisturisers and can apply topical steroid cream like cortisone if the itching is really worrisome .
The lesions follow a natural course and will slowly heal by themselves without any scarring.
Your pain does not seem to be associated with this skin problem ,you can see your nearby doctor for the pain.
Hope it helps
