Question : Hello,
I have had a red rash around my mouth for 3 weeks now. There are tiny bumps filled with water that break open and get crusty and itchy. It gets better than starts all over again. I have been putting petroleum jelly on my lips to help with moisture and it helps them not to hurt so bad. I also have bumps on the inside of my bottom lip. My doctor prescribed Nystatin to be applied 2 times a day. I have done this for 8 days with NO improvement. Any advice?

Brief Answer:
Perioral dermatitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query and photograph.
You have developed perioral dermatitis.
Nystatin might not be helpful to you.
I treat such cases with a mild topical steroid cream like cortisone twice daily for a week.
Try this, it's safe and effective.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
