Posted on Fri, 31 Jul 2015
Question: It started with a rash on the bottom of my daughters right foot. Took her to er and they gave me fungle cream. Couple of days later noticed small rash on top of her left foot. Took her back to er and they gave me cortisone cream. It has spread to most of her body and she is so itchy it hurts. I have been to her family doc and they still don't know what it is a month later and it is still there and still spreading. On higher dose of cortisone cream. Would really like to help my little girl out. They are doing a dermatologist appointment but don't know how long it is going to take.

She is also a lot more sleepy lately as well.

Brief Answer:
I suggest an Oral antihistamine and a stronger topical steroid

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

I have reviewed the Images. Not very clear though. Anyways, this seems like an allergic rash/ eczematous rash. This is definitely not a fungal infection.

I suggest that she takes an Oral antihistamine e.g 2.5 ml of Syp. cetrizine 5mg/ 5ml, twice daily. This will provide her symptomatic relief from itching.

Cortisone is the mildest of topical steroids and is unlikely to provide much of relief in a widespread rash such as you described.

First of all you must use a good moisturizing cream/ lotion for her, twice daily, over all affected areas.

Over and above the moisturizer I suggest a moderately potent topical steroid e.g either Fluticasone propionate 0.05% cream Or Triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% cream, to be applied, twice daily, over the rashes.

Regards
