Suggest Treatment For Rashes In The Armpit

default
Posted on Mon, 28 Sep 2015
Question: I have had a rash under my armpits for over a month. Went to Dr. and they said it was fungal due to extreme heat and I work outside and sweat a lot. Put nystatin cream and triamcinolone acetonide cream on it. One side is better, but still have it on other side. Now lymph nodes around elbow crease are swollen. Is this related to rash infection? Rash was initially itchy and uncomfortable but is not anymore, just still there. : (

Brief Answer:
stop applying triamcinolone acetonide

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.
I have read your query. I understand your concern.

In fungal infection, antifungals like clotrimazole cream and tablet fluconazole / terbinafine / itraconazole is advised. You have correctly used Nystatin crean but Triamcinolone acetonide which is a steroid is contraindicated in fungal infection of skin. It would definitely make you feel less itchy but is not all all recommended for fungal infection.

Lymph nodes near elbow may occur in case of infection in armpits due to lymph drainage. If you got any ulcer genital area in last month then you should get VDRL test done to rule out Syphilis. In syphilis, epitrochlear lymph nodes are often involved. You should visit your doctor and discuss this with him.

I am sure that he would agree with this. Take care.
