Suggest Treatment For Rashes On The Penis And Swelling Around The Eyes

Question: Yesterday morning I woke with my left eye swollen shut, an outbreak of what appeared to be acne (I'm 55 and haven't had acne since high school) on the left side of my face, and a rash on my penis. After the swelling around the eye decreased I went to a Rite-Aid 'minute clinic' and they advised me to go to my eye doctor. He couldn't see me until late in the day and in the interim the rash became noticeably worse although the swelling dissipated.

My eye doctor examined me and fortunately the rash hadn't impacted the eye, just the upper and lower eye lids. I thought it might be allergies or poison ivy that had gotten into the eye but there was no real discomfort (itchiness). He said not bad guesses but he believed it to be an outbreak of Shingles although he acknowledged the rash was a little atypical in that it was more of a series of small outbreaks (again only on the left side of my face and now neck) rather than a larger rash. And, again, there was no real discomfort. But given it was limited to one side of my body he believed it to be Shingles. He prescribed Valacyclovir and scheduled a follow up appointment on Monday.
