To recapitulate: Male/74 - visited a Doctor - who confirmed it was as stated also bleeding slightly - small sausage 5 cm or so by 1 cm Approx...

Such tumor should be biopsied to get a proper histopathological diagnosis and further investigated by CT scan of the abdomen, colonoscopy and blood tests to get further detailing to plan for a proper treatment.

I think you should consult a Proctologist or Onco-surgeon.
