Suggest Treatment For Recurrent UTI Infection

Question: I have recurrence UTI infection with E.Coli for second time.My PMD ordered for me time the first time Nitrofuratoin and now the infection still.He prescribe for me the same medicine again for 10 days twice daily and gave me a refer to see an urology. Can I use another type of antibiotic like gentamicin or amikacin IM?t

Thanks for writing your query.
After reading your post, I would suggest that you should get a urine culture/sensitivity test done and start antibiotic according to the culture reports.
Moreover Nitrofurantoin can be taken as 100 mg thrice daily.
Drink lots of water daily. Cranberry extracts can be taken to prevent recurrent Urinary Tract Infections.
