Question : Hi, my 12 year old has been having boils on the outside of her vagina. She has had 2 occurences within 3 months. They break and puss and blood comes from from the boils then it takes weeks to heal. I'm concerned and is wondering if I should take to the doctor to be checked out. Thanks in advance

Hi...recurring boils on the he outside of vagina in an adolescent requires oral antibiotic therapy and evaluation to find out why the infection is recurring.

Topical antibiotic cream gives only temporary relief.

Possibilities -
1. Recurrent pyoderma.
2. Skin infection due to excess moisture and local flora.
3. Immunodeficiency - though extremely rare.

She needs evaluation by a pediatrician.
