Brief Answer:
Recurrent C diff

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

The fact that she was treated with Vancomycin suggests that she might have had a very severe C diff infection.
The only other well known treatment for C diff is using oral metronidazole 3-4 times a day orally for 10 days. It is relatively safer than Vancomycin but for the feeling of nausea and metallic taste in the mouth.

Probiotics can be used and are recommended. I recommend newer generation pro biotics like Tab VSL-3 once a day for 1 month. It will replenish all the bad bacteria with good ones and these tablets have several billlions of good bacteria in each capsule.

The other well known and tested method for countering C diff is Fecal microbia transplant, here a selected donor's feces is tested, processed and delivered through colonoscopy, it has been tried on patients with fair success.

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
