Question : Hi, I have been dealing with reoccuring neck pain for about 2 years. I recently went for an MRI which revealved a hernation of the c5 c6 disc. I never really adressed the problem, it would flare up i would rest for a week and the pain would dissipate. Over the past few weeks the pain has become unbearable. I cant turn to the side without pain and my neck looks awkward, My neck is like pulled out, it looks my i have a hunch back. Would pt help relieve some of these symptoms.

Brief Answer:
Take medications as advised under a neurologist

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Cervical radiculopathy due to disc prolapse responds to medications and physiotherapy in most cases.
Medications like pain killers with muscle relaxants like aceclofenac or etoricoxib with thiocholchicoside can be used.
Pain modulator drugs like pregabalin, gabapentin, amitriptyline or duloxetine can be used too.
Physiotherapy under guidance will strengthen the neck muscle, decreases disc herniation and Pain.
In non responsive cases operation is required.
