Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Panic Attacks

default
Posted on Wed, 5 Apr 2017
Question: Good morning

I had a panic attack a month ago due to ingesting marijuana.
The attack lasted about two hours and my heart rate was 160 for about an hour of that.

I have had reoccurrences of much milder shorter attacks . Usually at night if I wake up . I experience elevated heart rate and anxiety at times .

Why is this happening ?
I am in no way a drug user . I have a family and a good job.

I ate a brownie with marijuana with friends as an experiment, and this didn't happen to them .

Brief Answer:
Now you are predisposed and there is need for treatment

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

Few of the persons exposed to cannabis develop recurrent panic attacks and other forms of anxiety disorder for which aetiology is not well known. However it has been observed that individuals with positive family history have higher risk than their other counterparts. In addition individuals with certain personality characteristics have more chances of developing.
I mean to say that not everyone who uses cannabis develops these symptoms but those who have first episode following cannabis use can have recurrent episodes lasting for few months and rarely longer.

In my opinion you should get treated your panic attacks and it is possible that treatment will shorten the course of these recurrent panic attacks.

I hope this assists you.
If you have more questions I will be glad to assist you further.
