Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Small Painful Bumps For Over Two Months

default
Posted on Wed, 16 Feb 2022
Question: Hi, I am getting small bumps as shown in the picture for last two months. I have tried duac gel and tea tree oil with no success. Sometimes, after the use of duac gel, it gets improved a little, but then it returns back. These bumps are painful sometimes when they grow up. Any suggestions?

Brief Answer:
Acne vulgarise most probably

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

After reading history and seeing the photo, I conclude that most probably you are having acne vulgaris.

I would suggest:

- Clindamycin gel apply at night
- Cap Minocycline 50 mg daily in morning on empty stomach (Prescription based medicine).
- Cleanse the face with Cetaphil lotion
- Avoid stress and anxiety

Take treatment for few months till the cure.. if it recurs, repeat the treatment.

It's recommended to take the treatment under observation of a Dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if there are any other queries.

Regards,

Dr. Ilyas Patel MD

Took a recent photograph.

Can you please confirm if you still stick to the same diagnosis and treatment plan?

And how long should I take the following antibiotic:

- cap Minocycline 50 mg daily in morning on empty stomach (Prescription based medicine).

I also can see Minocycline is not available in our country. Any other alternative drug?

I can see the following forms are available from Tetracycline class:

Tetracycline 250mg & 500mg/capsule

Please suggest. Thanks.

I have similar kind of itchy and red bumps on head too. Do you think these are same and acne vulgaris?

Brief Answer:
Follicuitis most probably

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

It seems that the lesions on scalp may be follicultis. The lesions are not related with acne. Take levocetirizine 5 mg daily till itching is relieved.Take a course of antibiotic.

Cleanse the scalp with savlon liquid. Avoid stress and anxiety.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks.
