Suggest Treatment For Recurring Painful Corns In Foot

default
Posted on Thu, 6 Aug 2015
Question: Hi Doc, I am 29 years old female I had corns in my foot which were surgically removed in Feb 2015. They have come back in the same place and are more painful now along with burning sensation. I soak my foot in warm water and scrub the corns everyday but that causes more pain. I have also tried applying salicylic gel on the corns, which also aggravated the problem of burning sensation. I am unable to walk because of this. Please help!

Brief Answer:
Needs antibiotics if infection and wide local excision by a General Surgeon

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of Corn removal in Feb 2015.
The picture shows the swollen lesions at the pressure points and looks infected at the base hence the pain.

I would advise you the following:
Consult a General Surgeon.
He may start you on antibiotics if he feels the infection is there.
Once the inflammation and infection are settled, please go for the wide local excision to be done by a General surgeon.
Please stop applying salicylic gel/acid and soaking in warm water as it causes soddening, as it looks in your case.

I hope this answers your query.
Proper excision can help to have a cure and proper post-operative care can help the avoidance of recurrence.
