Question : Hi, I recently noticed a small red, flat, somewhat shiny and only very, very slightly raised in parts. I noticed this about two weeks ago and the appearance has not changed. I have no other symptoms. I had unprotected sex about three months ago with my long term girlfriend. I have also been under immense stress lately and this appeared right around when the stress was at its worst.
Brief Answer:
could be yeast
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
That first photo looks like it may be a small patch of yeast.
Yeast is everywhere on our skin all the time and sometimes when you are very stressed you can have it turn into an infection.
If it is not painful it is not likely to be herpes.
If you do not have discharge from the penis or pain with urination you do not likely have gonorrhea or chlamydia.
I suggest that you try the antifungal Lamisil (terbenifine) on it twice a day for one to two weeks.
Hopefully that will clear it up.
If it does not clear up, if it is enlarging or if you develop new symptoms you should see a doctor for an exam and evaluation.
Best wishes,
Dr. Robinson
