Suggest Treatment For Red Dot On Stomach And GERD

default
Posted on Mon, 23 Mar 2015
Question: I woke up yesterday with a little red dot on my stomach. It hurt on and around it when I pressed on it. Not too sure if this relates to anything else.. I later exercised (elliptical machine, 30mins) and I had sharp pains on and off go throughout my abdomen, around my belly button and everything, and upper stomach area. I do have GERD and take medicine for if, but I have not had this weird sharp random pain in my abdomen before. It's still here the next day. I exercised again doing the same thing for the same length of time and i would still get random sharp pains. It's not consistent. Sometimes I'll even get it sitting down for a second, and then it will go away. I never know when I'm going to get it. Sometimes when I take a deep breath, or if I stretch, or just walk. Not always, though. There are no markings on my abdomen or chest. What could this be?

Brief Answer:
pulled muscle, doubt red dot is related

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question
There are many things that can cause sharp abdominal pains as you describe. If you develop fever and persistent pain then you need to see a doctor immediately. If it is just random sharp pains then it could be from a strained muscle or a nerve irritation. If it begins occurring after meals then it could be gallbladder. Since it has just been going on for one day, I suggest that you not exercise for a few days, take your GERD medication daily and drink plenty of water. If it is not resolving or if it becomes worse then see your doctor for and exam and some testing.
Hope you are back to normal soon,
Dr. Robinson
