default
Posted on Wed, 31 May 2017
Question: blotchy red rash shins/legs 24hrs aftr sun xposure, w/ achy flu-like symptoms, tender glands, headache. Rash on chest. Has happened before, same symptoms.Lupus? This rash is on both legs, happened 24 hours after sun (although i was in the sun for several days before rash appeared). It also came with very achy, flu-like symptoms, fatigue, sores inside cheeks, headache, tender lymph nodes. I also have rash on my chest and have had a res rash on cheeks and nose which derm diagnosed as rosacea. I also have ongoing rode side abdominal pain which is dull and achey, not sharp, for a year more, but the pain becomes worse when I have these flare-ups of rash and body aches (feels like my insides are swelling or like my insides are bruised). I am very sensitive to the sun and it causes the rash with these symptoms.

Either vasculitis/connective tissue disease, complete evaluation required

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at HealthcareMagic
I have gone through your complaints and reviewed the attached photograph.
It seems to be either vasculitis or a connective tissue disease.
You need a complete evaluation: clinical examination as well as investigations to find out the exact cause of problem.

Thank you for your response and the information. I'm wondering, if my doctor takes a look and thinks it's just something like contact dermatitis without taking a blood sample, should I seek another opinion? I keep having these sorts of flare ups with rash and body aches and mouth sores and swollen glands but by the time i get in to see doc (a few days later)most symptoms have gone away and only rash remains.

Brief Answer:
You can seek another opinion, All the best

Detailed Answer:
If your doctor thinks it is contact dermatitis you should take another opinion.
Infact even if your other signs and symptoms have gone by the time you reach the doctor you should elaborate on your history so that the doctor can have an idea of your problem.
Also do go for routine blood investigations.
All the best.
