Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

I am Dr. Kakkar. I have gone through your query and I have also seen the photographs.

I would like to rule out Fixed Drug Eruption.

I want to gather additional information from you regarding your problem. Kindly provide me all the required information.

-Do the red spots appear randomly all over the body or do they appear at the same sites every time? Are they itchy Or painful Or burning sensation?

-Is there any history of Drug Intake immediately preceding these red spots?

-How long do the red spots usually last? and do they disappear without leaving behind any residue? Or do they leave behind pigmentation?

-How long have you been suffering from the red spots?

Regards

They are usually on my feet sometimes with intense burning which removes itsef. There was nothing new that I can think of. . Yesterday it was just a red spot which became blistered this morning or during my sleep

Brief Answer:
FDE

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

- How many spots do you have? Are the ones in picture the only one or do you have more? If yes , where else?
- Are you on any oral medication? Do you remember taking any oral medication during the last few days.

I would keep a possibility of "Fixed Drug Eruption". FDE or Fixed Drug Eruption is clinically characterized by erythematous patches and sometimes blistering as well. The patches are fixed in location i.e every time they appear at the same place on intake of the culprit drug. They may leave behind post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

This type of drug eruption happens to commonly used drugs like pain killers, antibiotics etc. I would like to know from you, whether is there any relation of the appearance of these patches after intake of a particular drug e.g pain killers, antibiotics (commonly suphonamides/ penicillins and quinolones like ciprofloxacin/ ofloxacin) etc

Regards

Right now I just have the ones on my feet. I have had a recurrent spot on my right rear portion of my right thigh.. My gp said it was shingles, but later was told by my ex boyfriend who is a doctor that shingles don't recurr....so I was confused.
The spots have been mostly occur on my feet. It has been isolated to my feet

Brief Answer:
FDE

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

No, it is not shingles. This looks like FDE to me.

I would suggest topical application of a topical steroid + antibiotic cream e.g clobetasol propionate+Neomycin cream, twice daily for a few days.

I would also suggest an oral antibacterial e.g cephalexin (keflex 500 mg), thrice daily for a week.

An oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine 10 mg once daily would provide you symptomatic relief from itching and burning.
