Question : Hi doctor, Don't know what to do anymore. My penile skin is very irritated and red. I have this problem for almost three years but its gotten worst recently, even tough I stopped drinking and I eat very good food. I've seen many so called specialists, but... the problem still isn't solved. It inflates, hitch and hurt very bad. I use soap without allergic effects.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
The most important question to you is are you sexually active? If yes does it flare with intercourse? do you have any other skin problem like allergy, psoriasis, dermatitis etc. Do you masturbate and how frequent is it?
IF the skin on the head of penis is irritated and red it is most likely a trauma causing the posthitis. So you should avoid all kinds of trivial trauma like using tight undergarments, masturbation. I am worried how a specialist dermatologist is not able to help you. If there is extra skin I suggest to get this excised called circumscision once the inflammation subsides. This will definitely help you.

                                    Hi Dr, Mazumdar,
When it first happened, I was engaged, meaning sexually active. For the past 8 months, I wasn't really. I mean, I met a girl but intercourse was too painful. We did it only three times or so. I don't masturbate. Too painful. Some nights, I wake up because I have a erection and my skin hurting so bad too.
I have allergies when spring comes. Its not bad tough, acupuncture really helped me with that one. I have also dry skin on my right foot's toes but its not itchy and painful.
That being said, I thought about circumcision too. The prepuce region is by far the more painful ( have hard time walking sometimes). What make me hesitate is that the skin on some other part of the penis is dry and painful as well. Thought it could complicate recovering from circumcision. Also, only the skin is painful not the pinky part on top ( don't know how its called in English)
Thank you!

                                    Brief Answer:
Thats called prepuce
Detailed Answer:
The skin over the forehead of the penis is called prepuce and inflammation of it is posthitis. I suggest to go ahead with circumscison. It is the best way to deal with the ongoing problems. THe fear of erection can prevail soon if you have too much pain. This can lead to intercourse problems as well.
I suggest to meet a Dermatologist to deal with dry skin and surgeon for Circumscion. There would not be a problem healing post the incision.
Let me know if you have further queries.
