Brief Answer:
It can be due to ankle synovitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case. Pain in ankle joint is due to ankle synovitis. It is most probably not related to your ankle joint, specially if your knee is fine. I would suggest you to get MRI of the ankle joint to see if there is any fluid collection or cartilage damage is present. X ray will not be much helpful as there is no history of trauma or fall.
I would also suggest you to apply ice and compression bandage whenever such episodes takes place. In case there is any synovitis or cartilage damage then arthroscopy or key hope surgery can be advised.
I hope this answer will be useful for you.Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks
