Question : I have a red area of skin with the outer edge being redder in my groin area. It doesn't burn or itch. are they over the counter medications that might help.
Brief Answer:
try lamisil
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
This sounds like a type of fungal infection. They may be itchy but sometimes are not. It sounds like what used to be called ringworm. It has nothing to do with worms but can show up as areas of redness with increased redness at the edges.
The most effective antifungal medication for this type of rash is lamisil which is called terbinifine.
It may be in your pharmacy or grocery store as jock itch cream but do not let that scare you, it is really just a broad spectrum antifungal cream.
Apply it twice a day for a week or more until this is gone.
If it is getting worse or if this does not work you will need to see a doctor
