
Suggest Treatment For Reflux Disease In An Infant

Question : I have a 10 month old baby girl she has reflex she has had it since she was 2 month. We shiched the milk several times but she still has it. The doctor gave her a medicin called ranitidine twice a day we have been giving her this medicine since she was 2 month and dose not vomit the milk any more but would this medicine cause her any damage since she has been taking this for 8 months now please let me know

Reflux disease is very common in infants Upto a year because the gastro esophageal sphincter is not as tight as in adults.
Ranitidine is a safe drug proven in infants.
I don't think there should be any concern on taking it for so long.
But don't worry. You can try stopping it by one year of age.
Usually reflux settles by that time.
