Can you please suggest what is this for a male 8 month old.

Renal duplex system is a common birth defect formed due to improper fusion of the upper and lower part of the kidneys. Unless associated with other complaints, the condition does not need surgery for itself. So, whether surgery is essential depends on other significant problems that the child is suffering from.
