Question : Weakness and pain in right arm.

I just began to have a weak feeling in my right arm. The whole arm felt tired and like it was a bother to lift. I'm not sure if it was really tingly, but it definitely felt very fatigued. I now have pain in the bicep area and spreading to the front of the shoulder/armpit area and about halfway to my inner elbow. I did no heavy lifting, as I am currently sick with an undiagnosed illness, and it really just started while I was sitting in the passenger's seat on the way home.
I'm currently on a 30-day holter monitor for unexplained orthostatic intolerance and palpitations. I am worried I might have a heart attack or stroke. I feel very shaky, but nothing aside from my symptoms I've had for the last 10 weeks. How long would pain persist if it were my heart?

Brief Answer:
Cervical spondylosis

Detailed Answer:
Hi there

Thanks for the query

Have you sustained any trauma to your arm?

It is particle that you may be having Cervical spondylosis which can cause pain to radiate from the back of the neck to the hand, associated with tingling, numbness and weakness.

Do get a cervical spine Xray, nerve conduction velocity (NCV) study. This will help to pin point the cause.

Avoid lifting weights, bending neck forwards, using thick pillow, overhead activities. Apply hot packs to the affected region.

If it were due to heart problems, the pain would come on mostly when you are stressed and radiate from the left side of chest to the little finger and lower jaw. It would very relieved spontaneously or get worse. Usually stays for 5 minutes, aggravated by activity and relieved with Aspirin.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Thank you for answering, doctor.
I have not had any trauma to my arm. The feeling just came on suddenly while in sitting in the car. I notice that the right arm is a little shaky and my right hand is colder than my left. The sensation does not get worse with activity or better while resting. I have no chest pain. My arm just feels very weak.
