Brief Answer:
Need more details.

Detailed Answer:
HelloXXXX

I can understand your concern.

I Would like to ask you few more details.
1. Since when are you having this problem?
2. Is it dry cough or wet cough(with mucus)? Is it continuous cough during night times? Does cough decrease after having food or drinking water?
3. Do you have gastric problem after food poison?
4. Do you have any throat pain?
5. Are you taking any medication?

According to the history provided, It could be due to Gastro esophageal reflux. Food poison can increase secretions in stomach which travel all the way to throat and irritates throat. So it leads cough especially when you lie down.

Kindly get back to me with details.
If you have any queries I will be happy to help you.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Advised medication.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
Thanks for your information.

According to your history mostly it could be gastric esophageal reflux. Food poison can also causes throat infection and cough.
I would start Antacids like omeprazole 30 minutes before breakfast for one week.
Anti histamines like cetrizine 10 mg at bed time to avoid throat itching. You can get this medication over the counter.
And I would also start mucolytic cough syrup like ascoril twice a day.You can get this with local doctor prescription.
Elevate head end while sleeping by using pillow.
Do salt water gargles.

Hope I have answered your query.

Advised antacids.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,

Thanks for follow up query.
I can understand your concern

Omeprazole is antacid which will decrease your acid reflux. In this condition stomach secretions travel all the way to throat and causes itching and cough especially during night.

Cetrizine for itching in throat as you said.

Cough syrup for wet cough.

Above mentioned medications are not for fever but for throat pain and stool related problem.
These medications will help you in decreasing your cough.
Avoid spicy, oily food and heavy food before bed.

Hope I have answered your query.
If you have any queries I will be happy to help you.
