Question : Hello doctor,
I have some concerns regarding a lesion on my penis. I will attach a picture of it in this inquiry. The lesion is a ring-like shape, it is not raised and it doesnt hurt. However I'm concerned that it might be related to std's. However I tested negative for hiv, syphilis, gonnorhea, and chlymydia 3 days ago while my last encounter was around 4 months ago.
Furthermore I have there ring like rash on the palms of my right hand but I doubt that they are related. Do you have any opinions o this? My GP told me that they were not serious and I shouls ignore them, do you think that is an adequate diagnosis?
Thanks so much for your time doc

Brief Answer:
Few possibilities: lichen planus, granuloma annulare and ringworm infection
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to healthcaremagic
I have seen both the photographs. They are not related to any std. There are few possibilities of what these lesions can be: lichen planus, granuloma annulare or ringworm infection.
I need to ask you few questions:
Is there any itching on the rash on the penis or on the hand?
Are you taking medicine for some other ailment?
Is there any history of diabetes?
Regards

Dear Doctor,
A few weeks ago, I have been diagnosed with a yeast infection for my penis. I took two doses of diflucan (last dose being on this wednesday), and also has been putting clotrimazole cream on my penis twice daily. The rash on my hands do not itch, neither does the rash on my penis. I have no history of diabetes
What do you think?

Brief Answer:
Ringworm infection
Detailed Answer:
In my opinion, I have no doubt this is ringworm infection which is a fungal infection. I am not sure two doses of diflucan will help. You should continue using tablet fluconazole and continue applying clotrimazole cream. This will help in resolving it.

I was wondering how the ringworm infection showed up while I was on my first dose of diflucan? What about my palms, is it also a ringworm infection?
Furthermore, can I totally calm my fears about any STD's? Are there any STD's that can manifest itself like this?

Brief Answer:
No STD has a manifestation like this
Detailed Answer:
Both the lesions appear as ringworm infection as it is the most common cause of ring shaped lesions on the body and moreover the presentation is unilateral which further supports it.
You need not worry as STDs don't have a presentation like this. Both the rashes are not STD.
Has the rash improved while you are applying clotrimazole??

Thanks for calming my anxiety doctor. Just to clarify, there is no std that cause ring like shapes right? The rash on my penis started off as a diffuse redness, but has since gotten somewhat better. However, the ring shape showed up while I was in the process of treating the prior infection. (I will include another picture update
Furthermore, the rash on my hand is a discoloration (disappears if I press on the skin), do you think its ringworm? Could it be anything else?)

Brief Answer:
Yes there is no STD that causes ring like lesions.
Detailed Answer:
Yes there is no STD that causes ring like lesions. You continue applying clotrimazole cream.
The discolouration can be resolving ringworm infection or it can be contact eczema to something you have used. Just apply same cream on it and keep a watch on it whether it's decreasing in size or not. You can update me later regarding its course.
