Suggest Treatment For Running Nose, Productive Cough, Fever And Body Pain

default

Question: Hello doctor - I caught cold, cough and fever about 10 days ago. After medication, the cold and fever had completely subsided but the cough has been persistent ever since. It was dry cough to begin with, but has turned into productive cough over the past 5-6 days. I do not have running nose, cold or anything else. It is really just a lot of cough (with phlegm) and sometimes associated with slight body pain. I have tried Chericof (cough syrup) - the situation seems to improve, but overall no significant improvement. I do work in the AC, so that may be making it a little worse.

Could you please recommend if I need to do something else? Should I start an antibiotic course or something? Please advice.

Brief Answer:
URTI may be cause, continue Treatment for week.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your query.

I shall make an effort to provide you with good professional recommendations specific to your questions.
Based on the information provided by you, it spread that you might be suffering from Upper Respiratory tract infection.
viral upper respiratory illness (URI) is characterized by clear thin mucous either from the nose or back of the throat for the first phase of the illness. After that the mucous that is produced starts to thicken as the body responds to the virus.
The syrup contain dextromethorphan, which is couch suppressant, should be helpful. As you have mentioned you have some phlegm, I advice you to drink lot of water which help to loosen the mucus.
Clearing thick mucus from the airways can decrease coughing.
Hence, I advice you to take the given medication for another four to five days, drink lot of water, preferably warm water and try to avoid AC as much as possible. This should help and you should be fine by week.

Yet again, I duly appreciate your query to me, I do hope that have found something useful to help you and I shall be glad to answer any further apprehensions.

Sincerely,
