I am dr.kakkar(dermatologist). I have gone throuh your query and i have noted your concern.

Sebaceus cysts are quite common on back and shoulder area. They may slowly increase in size over the years and may rarely become infected, swollen and painful.

Sebaceous cysts are best removed surgically (a minor procedure under local anesthesia) whereby the entire cyst is removed along with the lining cyst wall. This is important because if any part of the cyst wall is left behind it can cause a recurrence of sebaceous cyst.

Either a surgeon or a dermatologist can perform the surgical procedure.
