Suggest Treatment For Sebaceous Hyperplasia On Face
Question: Quick question - I see a dermatologist for skin check ups but just wanted to double check this (i got a bit paranoid about my skin and skin eancer). I have oily skin and quite a lot of sebaceous hyperplaisa on my face and forehead. They seem to be little blocked oily mounds, some with a little pore in the middle. See the one attached which is a good ecsmple and been like that for a while. Is this typically what one looks like (seems to match on the internet) but also looks similar to a small basel cell so How do you tell the difference?

I have gone through your query and I have also reviewed the Image.
This looks very much like a Sebaceous Hyperplasia, a raised bump on forehead with a central pore. I can see a few others too in this Image. This clinical presentation is quite typical of sebaceous hyperplasia. Sebaceous hyperplasia may resemble an early BCC but on close inspection with a dermatoscope it is usually possible to distinguish between the two. On dermoscopy, blood vessels/ telangiectasias in sebaceous hyperplasia are seen to be arranged in a regular fashion as compared to the irregular pattern of arrangement of blood vessels in BCC. If in any doubt the dermatologist would typically perform a biospy and confirm it on histopathology.

Thank you for your quick response. I seem to be getting more as I get older. These two(new pic) Ive had for ages and my Dr says they are also SP. Do they resemble the same thing also?
Some look like the first pic others arent as defined or seem more just like bumps or pimples, some with a blood vessel (if i look really close). Is this also normal? And does wearing a hat aggrivate them? The more i look the more i see! :-/
